Anita Ekberg

Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen), 29 September 1931 - 11 January
2015) was an Swedish actress, popular for her gorgeous shape and beauty. Her
role as Sylvia in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita (1960) earned her fame.
Ekberg performed her work mainly in Italy and became an permanent resident in
1964.Anita Ekberg was born on 29 September 1931 in (Sweden) in Sweden, eighth
child in a family of eight. Anita was a fashion model in her teens. Ekberg was
influenced by the advice by her mother, in 1950 she entered Miss Malmo. She
took home the Miss Sweden contest. Even though she could speak little English
Ekberg traveled to the United States to compete for the Miss Universe 1951
title. It was an not an official pageant at the time. The pageant officially
became officially recognized in 1952. Although Ekberg didn't win the Miss
Universe pageant, as one of six contestants, she was able to sign an actress'
contract with Universal Studios. She was a Universal starlet and received
lessons in dramatization, elocution , horseback riding, fencing and elocution.
She appeared briefly in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello Go
to Mars (1953) (playing the role of a woman on Venus), Take Me to Town (1953),
and The Golden Blade (1953).
