Thora Birch

Thora Birch (born March 11 1982) is an American actor and producer. In 1988, she made her debut in a film in the film Purple People Eater. For the role, she was awarded the Young Artist Award as "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age". Birch became a household name as when she was a child actor with films like All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (92), Hocus Pocus (93), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). In 1999, she was nominated for an BAFTA nomination. In 2001, she was nominated for Best Actress for Ghost World. Birch was nominated Emmy Award for her performance in Homeless To Harvard: The Liz Murray Story in 2003. Other films she has appeared in include Dungeons & Dragons (2000), The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006), Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009), and Petunia (2012).After having an absence from acting, Birch was back in the spotlight in 2016 and has since appeared in a variety of independent films. Birch was also in the role of Whisperer Maryand Gamma in the Walking Dead's Season 10. Birch was born in Los Angeles, the eldest child of Jack Birch and Carol Connors. Birch who's family's first surname was Biersch, is of German-Jewish, Scandinavian, French-Canadian and Italian ancestry.  Her name, Thora is the name that comes from Thora, the Norse god of thunder and lightning ("Thor") that could be her name had she was a boy. She has a younger brother, Kian Bolt Birch.Birch's parents are former adult film actors who played in the movie Deep Throat. Based on their own experiences in the entertainment field and their own experience, they were hesitant initially to support Thora. But, her photograph was viewed by agents after a babysitter had seen her fake commercials. Birch's first big break came around the age of 4, when her babysitter took her along to an audition for the Quaker Oats commercial.
